FAQs

How do I apply for admission for my child?

Open Enrollment for each school year usually runs from mid-December to mid-February. After open enrollment, you may apply for our waitlist at: https://tinyurl.com/2021TapestryEnrollment

Does Tapestry have any enrollment priorities?

Charter law prohibits the school from prescribing a ratio of students, such as having separate lotteries for special needs students and typically developing students. Therefore, all students are selected in the same open lottery. Our charter does allow for priority enrollment to be given to children of full time employees, board members and to siblings of currently enrolled students. The sibling policy is in place in order to support families and afford them the convenience of sending their children to the same school. Siblings of graduating seniors are not eligible for sibling preference. If a student is selected to attend Tapestry either in the lottery or from the waitlist, his/her sibling(s) will also be offered a seat. In no case will a seat be given to a sibling who is lower on the waitlist instead of the student who is originally selected.

If I want my child to attend Tapestry, do I also need to enroll them through the DeKalb County School Choice Open Enrollment?

No. Tapestry does not participate in the School Choice Lottery. In order to apply to Tapestry, parents will only need to fill out our online application: https://tinyurl.com/2021TapestryEnrollment

When will the lottery for admission be held?

The lottery is usually held in February. The specific date and time will be provided on our website (under the enrollment tab) once finalized. Families are not required to attend the lottery.  Notifications will be sent within 48 hours of the lottery via the email and text message that is provided on the lottery application. Lottery results will also be published on the Lotterease website.

If my child is currently attending Tapestry, must I put them in the lottery for next year?

No, your child will be guaranteed a seat next year. However, you must sign a Letter of Intent form each year. Information is usually provided in January and must be returned by the deadline given. You will forfeit your child’s spot if the form is not returned by the deadline.

What do I do if my child is selected to attend Tapestry?

Please “confirm” your student’s slot by the deadline indicated on your acceptance notice. Upon admittance to Tapestry, applicants will be required to return completed enrollment documents and requested materials by the date indicated on their acceptance letter or the spot may be forfeited.  In case of parents providing false information (e.g., address) the student will be withdrawn. If a student has been retained and is therefore ineligible for the grade they applied for, they will be moved to the waitlist for the appropriate grade. Enrollment is not guaranteed as required documents must be received by the enrollment deadline. The timeline to submit documents will vary/lessen periodically.

All newly accepted students who are new to DCSD or who have not attended a DCSD school in the past year must complete enrollment through DCSD at https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/online-registration/. This includes siblings of current students as well as children of full-time employees and/or board members. Again, this requirement is only for those students who have been accepted into Tapestry and who are not currently attending a DCSD school.
