My name is Elisha Sewell, and I am honored to introduce myself as the newest member of the Special Education Department at Tapestry. As we gear-up for the new semester following the winter break, I want to extend my warmest greetings to each of you.
My passion for education has led me on a diverse teaching journey. I began my career in Pre-K and Kindergarten, eventually transitioning to Special Education. I spent four rewarding years as a Special Education para in SID/PID, followed by the last two years dedicated to teaching grades K-8 as a Special Education Teacher. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Behavioral Therapist in a clinic for autistic children.
I am thrilled to bring my skills and knowledge to Tapestry to contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for our students. Currently pursuing my Master’s in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis, I am committed to ongoing learning and professional growth. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where every student can thrive. Education is a collaborative journey, and I am eager to work alongside students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a successful and enriching academic year. I look forward to meeting you and working together to create a positive and impactful educational experience for our students.
On a personal note, I am originally from the beautiful St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, I am a proud parent of two wonderful children: my 11-year-old son Cornelius and my 4-year-old daughter Leilani; who has Cerebral Palsy. My personal experiences have inspired and deepened my commitment to Special Education, motivating me to pursue advanced studies in the field.
I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant Tapestry community and I am eager to meet and collaborate with each of you. Let’s embark on a growth, learning, and inclusivity journey together!
