Dr. Jason Mizell graduated from the University of Georgia with a Ph.D. in Language and Literacy Education. He specialized in working with multilingual learners and their families, many of whom were labeled as differently-abled. He received his master’s degree in (bilingual) Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut-Storrs and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbus State University. Dr. Mizell is a parent instructional coordinator within the Gwinnet County Public School (GCPS) system. Before joining GCPS he was an assistant professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Miami where he specialized in teaching reading, writing, and language acquisition courses to pre- and in-service teachers. He also conducted educational research nationally and internationally.
