Karen Turner joined the Tapestry community as the high school science teacher in 2017. She is certified in broad field science and special education and has been teaching high school science since 2003. She has a diverse educational and professional background that started with a horticulture degree from UGA (including a semester in Hawaii as an exchange student).
Karen is also an artist at heart and studied fine arts photography for two years at Georgia State before obtaining a Master’s degree in science education. In the classroom, she encourages students to think “outside of the box” and take healthy risks that will open doors to future learning experiences and character development. She has experience teaching biology, botany, physical science, environmental science, and chemistry.
