Ms. Lauren Chatelain

Lauren Chatelain is a high school English teacher with over a decade of experience working with students in grades 8-12. She began her career in education in her home state of Louisiana after graduating from Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in secondary education and minors in Spanish and art history in 2012. After several years teaching in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, she moved to Atlanta and continued teaching English, as well as serving as a resource teacher in her previous school’s Study Support program. In 2022, she earned a master’s degree in literacy education and a reading specialist certification from Georgia State University. In the past, she has served as a class sponsor, student council moderator, Quiz Bowl coach, cheerleading assistant coach, and a group leader/chaperone for school trips to the Dominican Republic and Spain.
Her educational interests include strengthening students’ literacy skills through research-based methods, studying literature that prompts students to explore their cultural identities, and engaging students in writing exercises that cultivate their unique voices. This is her first year at Tapestry, and she is excited to work with a new group of diverse learners.
She enjoys walks around her neighborhood with her husband, Kevin, and their Shih Tzu-mix, Charlie, and spends her spare time baking, practicing yoga, and, of course, reading.
