About Tapestry
We opened in August 2014.
The mission of Tapestry Public Charter School is to offer an inclusive, individualized learning environment that is academically engaging, both for neurotypical students and those on the autism spectrum, and to create a positive school culture that empowers all students to take possession of their innate talents and become creative builders of their own future.
Tapestry DeKalb is located at 3130 Raymond Drive, Atlanta, GA 30340. Tapestry Clayton will open in Fall 2026 at 142 College St., Jonesboro, GA 30236.
No. Tapestry is a public charter school and does not charge tuition.
No. We do not require uniforms. Students are asked to wear attire that does not interfere with the learning environment.
Our Academic Model
Tapestry serves grades 6 through 12. Tapestry Clayton will open serving grades 6 through 10 and add one grade per year until it serves grades 6 through 12.
Classes are small by design. Core classes have approximately 20 students and are co-taught by both a general education teacher and a special education teacher. This model allows us to differentiate instruction and provide support within the same classroom.
Many reasons. Tapestry offers a positive, safe, and nurturing school culture. Our students develop empathy, self-awareness, and strong relationships with peers who have different strengths and challenges. Class sizes are small. Teachers know students well. We take the arts, technology, and real-world learning seriously. And our students consistently graduate at higher rates than state averages.
Admissions and Enrollment
Tapestry DeKalb is open to any student residing in the DeKalb County School District in grades 6 through 12, subject to lottery and seat availability. Tapestry Clayton is open to any student residing in Clayton County in grades 6 through 10, with one grade added each year until the school serves grades 6 through 12.
Note that some parts of Atlanta and Decatur fall within DeKalb County but are zoned for Atlanta Public Schools or City of Decatur Schools. If you live in DeKalb County but are zoned for one of those districts, your child is not eligible to attend Tapestry DeKalb. Proof of residency in the appropriate county school district is required at both campuses.
Open enrollment typically runs from December through early February for the following school year. After open enrollment closes, you may apply to be placed on a waitlist. See the Admissions pages for each campus for current dates and application links.
Charter law requires that all students be selected through the same open lottery. However, our charter allows priority enrollment for children of full-time employees, board members, and siblings of currently enrolled students. If a student is admitted and has a sibling, the sibling will also be offered a seat.
No. Current students are guaranteed a seat for the following year. However, you must sign a Letter of Intent to re-enroll by the posted deadline each year or your child’s spot may be forfeited.
Family Life at Tapestry
Yes. Each Tapestry family is asked to contribute a minimum of 20 volunteer hours per year. In no case will a student be penalized for a parent’s inability to fulfill volunteer hours.
